I hadn't been "home" in 10 years. Any time I go back to Oregon, it's a sentimental journey. Not much family to see anymore but old stomping grounds called to me. Schools, neighborhoods and landscapes dear to my heart and as beautiful as ever. |
A Southeast Portland gem with historical status now. Growing up it was a favorite spot to watch July 4th fireworks. It still feels like an old time place. Radiates rare. |
Reed-Woodstock-Westmoreland-Blue Lake. A hop, a skip and a jump away from Steele St. Imagination's playground, grade school, teen years swimming hole. |
1st steps, college. Freshman year - one hour from Portland. |
Amity-Bethel-Lafayette-Dundee-Newberg. Rolling hills, farmlands, glorious stands of trees, vistas of green; then and now. |
Salem. Oregon's capitol. Where I chased squirrels as a 4 year old. And decades later wander the same spaces with the same sense of wonder. |
Lilacs, a gateway to memories of mom. A gardner, a lover of beauty, she and I. |
The Little Chapel of the Chimes is now "home" to my mom & dad. The little woods to one side will be mine. Grazing geese around town (here, Reed, Blue Lake) are a new phenomenon. Global warming has pushed them farther south earlier? I was happy to see them no matter the reason. https://youtu.be/L93azIggSQw - Blue Lake |
For a week my eyes were on Oregon. On the flight back to L.A. someone kept his eye on me. |
