The more things change, the more they stay the same.
The West Valley Shelter said Pilot was three months when our hearts met. She was on a five-day hold. Her kennel card said Jindo. Picking her up on day five, the card read Chow. Jindo schmindo and spots on tongue do not a chow make. So much for accuracy. If three months was close to the truth, she's sliding gracefully into year 13 this January. We brought her home to Alhama Drive where she claimed a daily slice of sun against a blue gray wall.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
I am a birthday gift.
I will grow tall and straight.
My first year will fly, as will all the others.
Chimes tinkle overhead.
Ballot measure Yes on Prop 2 (confinement of chickens, pigs & veal calves) changed my life. Much of what you see on My Story Tails comes from that change.
