That line stays with me, reminds me of being very young with no idea of what a Calla lily was, but gee it was fun imitating that Hepburn sound. |
 Though called a lily, Calla lilies are not really lilies. And no, my Calla is not an Easter Lily. But she's a symbol just the same. Last June's move meant uprooting and replanting. And glory be, this March, here she is. Pushed up and out of the earth again. Determined to beautify. This Easter weekend my elegant white Calla emerges between broad dark green, arrow shaped leaves. Small but taller than the bright eager green shoots dotting the earth near to her. She graces the pebbly plain soil; Spring is here. |
